QQQ Closed 707.64. Nine Handles Under 717 After ISM, JOLTS, and Barr.
FACT. CosAnalyst research desk. QQQ cash close 707.64 on Tuesday, Sep 1. Nine handles under 717. Barr spoke at 9:05 ET. ISM manufacturing and JOLTS printed at 10:00 ET. The cash close is the close.
ANALYSIS. 717 is the invalidation Cos will name. 700 is the magnet. The GEX snapshot Cos will carry is prices, not percents: magnet 700, invalidation 717, box 701.55–713.15. Expired 0DTE is dead. NO TRADE. BOOK FACT · NOT A TICKET.
The print we will say
FACT. QQQ cash close 707.64, down 9.12 from Monday’s 716.76. Tuesday cash range 704.66–712.30. Open 707.43. After-hours 707.98 is not the close. Monday’s cash range was 713.16–717.58. Monday’s C1 was 717. Tuesday never took it back.
FACT. NQ 28,810 is mapped from the QQQ cash close. It is not an NQ print. Cos will not say NQ printed 28,810.
ANALYSIS. Nine handles is the gap between 707.64 and 717. That gap is tape. It is not a fill, not a reclaim, and not a ticket back to Monday’s lid.

GEX snapshot · prices, not percents
FACT. The public GEX snapshot Cos will print is a price card. Magnet 700. Invalidation 717. Box 701.55–713.15. Tuesday’s cash range 704.66–712.30 printed inside that box. Cos will not convert those strikes into percents.
FACT. Monday’s midday −$222.07M card expired. It was not Monday’s cash close. Tuesday’s 0DTE expired at the cash close. It is not Tuesday’s cash close. Expired 0DTE is killed. See QQQ 0DTE: GEX snapshot close vs the midday card.
ANALYSIS. A dead 0DTE card does not rewrite 707.64. A magnet at 700 is location, not a bid Cos will take. 717 is the line that would have to print and hold before Cos even discusses a reclaim. Skip is valid.
Barr, then the 10:00 prints
FACT. Tuesday 9:05 ET was Governor Michael S. Barr at the Second-Chance Lending Forum in Washington. It was not Warsh. Prepared remarks: “Inflation remains too high—and has been for over five years.” On the September FOMC: “If trends in the data give me some confidence that inflation is moderating on a path to 2 percent, then I think we can take a bit more time to assess our policy stance. However, if inflation appears not to be moderating sufficiently, then I think we should act decisively to raise rates.” Source: Federal Reserve, Barr, Sep 1, 2026. See No Warsh Tuesday.
FACT. ISM Manufacturing PMI, August: 54.6, one point under July’s 55.6. Eighth month of expansion, slower. New Orders 53.7, down from 56.7. Production 58.3. Employment 51.2, down from 52.8. Prices 71.1, unchanged. Source: ISM, August 2026 Manufacturing PMI.
FACT. BLS JOLTS, July: job openings 7.271 million, up 89,000 from a downwardly revised June 7.182 million, under a 7.30 million consensus. Openings rate 4.4 percent. Hires 5.054 million. Quits 3.056 million. Layoffs and discharges 1.666 million. Source: BLS JOLTS via Reuters wrap.
ANALYSIS. Barr did not retire Friday’s jobs print. ISM slower is still expansion. JOLTS higher on a downward June revision is not a labor-market break. Cos will not invent FedWatch. Friday 8:30 ET is still the print.
Duration is a screen. Not CMT.
FACT. The long-end screen Cos will carry for Tuesday is 10Y 4.79 and 30Y 5.28. Those are screen prints. They are not Constant Maturity Treasury. Monday’s official 10Y CMT was 4.75 — tied Jul 31, not a new high. Cos did not pull a Tuesday CMT. The 2Y is omitted.
ANALYSIS. Duration did the work overnight and into the cash session. A screen yield is location. It is not a CMT high Cos will name, and it is not a ticket.
707.64 is the close. 717 is invalidation. 700 is the magnet. Expired 0DTE is dead. NO TRADE. BOOK FACT · NOT A TICKET.
What Cos will not do
- FACT. Cos will not read an expired 0DTE card as the cash close.
- FACT. Cos will not print NQ 28,810 as a last. It is mapped.
- FACT. Cos will not print a Tuesday 2Y.
- FACT. Cos will not call a screen 10Y or 30Y a CMT print.
- ANALYSIS. A failed hold under 717 is not a short ticket. A magnet at 700 is not a long ticket. NO TRADE.
The rest of the week
- Wed 8:15 ET — ADP · 10:30 EIA ($WTI) · 2:00 Beige Book
- Thu 8:30 ET — claims + Waller · 10:00 ISM Services
- Fri 8:30 ET — August jobs — the print
FACT. Wednesday 10:30 ET is EIA — the oil inventory card. Oil on this desk is $WTI. We will not print a futures cashtag. Friday is August jobs. Hidden risk on the Aug 31 desk note was duration + $WTI + jobs. A Tuesday close at 707.64 does not retire that sentence.
Energy and the waterway are a different note. Do not import them onto this close. See Nine cents from 64.70, $WTI 86.17 is tape, and Hormuz / Larak is not a $90 $WTI breakout.
NO TRADE. 707.64. Magnet 700. Invalidation 717. Box 701.55–713.15. BOOK FACT · NOT A TICKET.
